University
Tests: What do they mean?

|
"100% success in University Tests" is not as good as "100% success at home". That's because clinical trials measure efficacy (i.e. whether a product has the ability to work under the trial conditions), which is not the same as effectiveness. A treatment is effective if it works in real life, in non-ideal circumstances; for example in homes when stressed parents treat unwilling children! Furthermore, some university tests and clinical studies are performed on body lice - not head lice! (That's because it's easier to breed and maintain a body lice population in a laboratory.) Also, some university tests are performed by mechanically placing head lice onto the test substance in a Petri dish. That's why positive results from 'university tests' don't necessarily mean that ordinary mums and dads, without any special training, will get the same results in their own homes. Electric Blue products have been found clinically effective on the basis of a practical end-point …the absence of live, crawling lice 14 days after initial treatment of community-based people. Effectiveness, defined by this end-point has been demonstrated in (a) elderly nursing-home residents, (b) large families in cramped housing (c) long-term, resistant infestations in people in Australia, United Kingdom, USA and Singapore. These groups had previously tried numerous products and strategies without success, before using Electric Blue. We therefore conclude that Electric Blue is shown to be effective. With no reports of adverse events in 4 years of consumer use, we conclude that Electric Blue is safe. |
